What does arthritis in the foot mean?
Arthritis means the cartilage in a joint is changing. This can cause pain and stiffness. Arthritis can also occur in the foot and the big toe joint. In the case of arthritis in the big toe, the term hallux rigidus is often used. This name is slightly different from hallux valgus, which mainly refers to a crooked position.
The shoe break-in and space in the shoe
A stiff toe can make it difficult to find a comfortable model. We look at where the shoe bends, how much space there is above the toe, and whether pressure points develop. Depending on the treatment advice, a certain sole construction or break-in may be desirable. We let you experience different suitable models and discuss what is possible within our assortment.
Bring your current insoles and treatment advice
If you already have podotherapeutic insoles, orthopedic devices, or other medical instructions, these form the starting point. The free 3D foot scan supports the shoe advice, but does not diagnose arthritis. FootBalance insoles do not replace a prescribed device. We will honestly discuss whether our shoes or support are suitable for your situation, or whether specialist foot care is needed.
What we cannot promise?
Shoes and insoles do not undo arthritis. The goal of the fitting is to find a combination that is comfortable and aligns with your usage and medical advice. Discuss increasing pain, a warm and swollen joint, or clear limitations with your general practitioner. Also, in the case of sudden pain, it must first be clarified what is going on; not every painful big toe has arthritis.

Answers to your questions
Frequently asked questions
Can you see arthritis on the scanner?
No. For a diagnosis, you should see a healthcare provider. We use the scanner to look at the shape of the foot for shoe and sole advice.
Can I also search for shoes only for my own insoles?
Yes. We look at the fit with your existing insoles and the space they take up in the shoe.
Is the foot scan really free?
Yes. The 3D foot scan and personal shoe advice are free and with no purchase required. You do not have to buy support insoles or shoes.
How much do the support insoles cost?
A pair of FootBalance support insoles costs €109.99, including fitting. The insoles are shaped to your feet in the store and are ready immediately.
How does the 4-week trial work?
You pay at the time of purchase. Are you not satisfied with the insoles? Return them to the store within 4 weeks (28 days) after purchase and you will receive a refund.
Also with your own support insoles
