What are flat feet?

With flat feet, the arch on the inside of the foot is low or barely visible. A foot can be flexible or rigid. A low arch does not cause complaints in everyone. A flat foot also does not automatically mean that treatment or orthotics are needed. The combination of foot shape, daily strain, and any pain is more important than a scan image alone.

And what does overpronation mean?

Pronation is the inward movement of the foot during a step. In stores, you often hear about overpronation when someone moves inward more. How you move and whether that causes complaints cannot be deduced solely from a still image. We therefore use the 3D foot scan as a tool for sizing and fit advice, not as a medical assessment of your gait.

Shoes that fit your foot shape

We pay attention to the fit around the heel and midfoot, and sufficient width and space for the toes. A shoe that feels firm is only practical if it also fits your foot and activity. Bring your own shoes and any orthotics. If FootBalance support seems suitable, you can try the combination in the store. The scan and advice are free.

When is further examination advisable?

Discuss a foot arch that has recently collapsed, noticeable swelling, or persistent pain with your GP. For children, the assessment and possible treatment of painful feet should be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional. A child's foot that looks flat is not, in itself, a reason to sell orthotics. We are happy to help you choose shoes based on the advice you have received.

Answers to your questions

Frequently asked questions

Should everyone with flat feet wear orthotics?

No. Not every low arch causes complaints. We look at your wishes and fit; a doctor or podiatrist can assess whether medical treatment is needed.

Can I come with my existing podiatrist-prescribed orthotics?

Yes. We will look for shoes that offer sufficient space and in which your own orthotics fit well.

Is the foot scan really free?

Yes. The 3D foot scan and personal shoe advice are free and with no purchase required. You do not have to buy orthotics or shoes.

How much do the orthotics cost?

A pair of FootBalance orthotics costs €109.99, including fitting. The orthotics are shaped to your feet in the store and are ready immediately.

How does the 4-week trial work?

You pay at the time of purchase. Not satisfied with the orthotics? Return them to the store within 4 weeks (28 days) after purchase and you will receive a refund.

Also with your own orthotics
